Performance Training
What stops most players is not grip strength but independence and evenness between the fingers, and a hand trainer is a warm-up for that rather than a workout. Set the Varigrip to its lightest tension and give it a few minutes before you pick the instrument up, then stop as soon as the forearm begins to warm. The FiddiLink works the other side of the problem, waking the fingers for flexibility and response before you touch a string. If either one produces pain in a joint or in the wrist, put it down and rest for several days, because a strained hand costs far more practice than a slow week.
