Viola Strings

A viola has no standard size the way a violin does: two instruments both called full size can be two inches apart, and the strings are sold accordingly. So measure the back of your viola before you order. Tonica is split at fourteen inches, and Dominant comes as a twelve-to-fourteen-inch set and a fifteen-to-fifteen-and-a-half-inch set; when the length is wrong, the silk winding at the end of the string sits on the nut or over the bridge instead of clearing it. Spirocore is also sold string by string, so a player who wants a different C alone, in chrome, silver or tungsten, can change that one and leave the rest of the set in place.
