This shelf is aimed mostly at dizi and pipa players. Yu Xunfa and Zhan Yongming take different approaches to the dizi, and hearing one instrument through two players teaches phrasing more directly than any marking on the page. The Zhang Hongyan recital arrives as a CD with a DVD, so the right hand and the way a phrase is carried can be watched rather than guessed at. The double-CD sets are made for listening straight through before you go picking single tracks.
