Tailpieces

The Wittner High-Tech tailpiece is moulded in one piece with a fine tuner for each string built into the body, so nothing has to be clamped on at the string end afterwards and no extra metal hangs there. Violin fittings go by fraction, 4/4, 3/4 and 1/2, but a viola tailpiece is chosen by the length of the instrument, and the sizes run 38 to 39.5cm and 39.5 to 41.5cm. Whenever the tailpiece is changed the tailgut has to be set again, because the distance between bridge and tailpiece moves with it and the strings respond differently when that distance is wrong.
