What people use the space for
The rooms were built for a music school, so they are quiet, they hold a piano and nobody minds the noise. That turns out to suit a lot more than lessons.
Rehearsal room
Ensembles, duos and chamber groups working through a programme before a concert. Book by the hour; the rate rises with the number of people in the room, not with the hour of the day.
Practice room
An hour alone with an instrument, for students who cannot practise at home and for players preparing an audition or an exam.
Recital and small concert
The hall seats around 60. Private recitals start from one hour; ticketed public events are booked in blocks of four hours or more.
Talks and workshops
A projector and an 8-metre screen can be added per event, so the hall works for a lecture-recital, a class or a company workshop as well as for music.
Recording and filming
A quiet room with a piano, hired by the hour, is often the cheapest usable space for a demo, a video or an audition tape.
Auditions and try-outs
A room to hear players in, in the same building as the instrument shop and the repair bench.

Zhongzheng District, central Taipei — 1F, No. 138-1, Sec. 1, Xinsheng S. Rd. The shop, the teaching rooms and the hall are all at the same address, so an instrument can be tried, repaired or borrowed on the way through.

What is the minimum booking?
Rooms and the hall for a private use are booked from one hour. A ticketed public event in the hall is booked from four hours, which covers the get-in and the get-out as well as the performance.
Is a piano included?
An upright piano is included in all three teaching rooms at no extra charge. The grand piano in the hall is charged once per booking, not per hour.
How is the room rate calculated?
Per hour, by how many people are in the room: a base rate for the first person and a fixed amount per hour for each additional person, up to the capacity of that room. The rates on this page are the full list.
Can I sell tickets to an event here?
Yes. Ticketed events use the public rate for the hall and a four-hour minimum. Tell us what you are planning when you enquire and we will say what the day needs.
Can I try or hire an instrument while I am there?
The shop and the repair bench are at the same address. Ask when you book and we will have someone there who can help.
How do I book?
Send us the date, the number of people and what you are doing. Availability changes day to day, so nothing is bookable directly on this page — we reply with what is free and a total.
