Daruan Strings
Daruan strings are numbered 1 to 4, with string 1 the thinnest and highest and string 4 the thickest and lowest, the reverse of the guzheng, where string 1 is the thickest and lowest. A low string rarely announces itself by breaking; it loses definition first, so when the attack blurs and the note sounds dull under the finger, it is finished. Most of what our Taipei shop keeps can be bought one string at a time, so you replace only what has gone, and holding a set to a single brand keeps the tension even. If you are not sure which string you are on, message us on LINE at @linsculture with a photo of the old packet.
