Professor at the School of Music of South China Normal University and supervisor of master's degree candidates. Vice Chairman of the Ruan Committee of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society and Vice Chairman of the Guangdong Nationalities Orchestra Society. In 1978 he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music through special exception, and in 1982 he graduated from the China Conservatory of Music. He studied under Pinghu-school pipa master Yang Shaoyi; studied daruan and zhongruan under Wang Zhongbing and Pang Yuzhang; studied guqin under Professor Li Xiangting; and from 1985 studied Chang'an ancient music under Mr. Yu Zhu, a member of the renowned Chang'an ancient-music family. He has published more than sixty ruan pieces such as 《Camel Bells of the Silk Road》, 《Ancient Charm of Zhongnan》, 《Moon over the Jade Tower》, and 《Gazing at the Qinchuan Plain》; his works are rich in northwestern regional character and have become an important component of the ruan professional teaching repertoire.
