Description

Lu Yaobo is a young dizi and xiao performer and composer; a Master of Arts of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music; principal bamboo dizi of the Shaanxi Peking Opera Theatre; a specially appointed expert of the Shaanxi Vocational Art College; a bamboo-dizi instructor at Xi'an University; and a recipient of support from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's "Hundred Years, Hundred Projects" creative program, the National Arts Fund, and key projects of the Shaanxi Provincial Arts Fund.

His outstanding original works include the bamboo-dizi solos Dancing Sand, Drifting Snow, Wuling, and Lament on the Plateau; the xiao-and-electronic-music piece Brocade Zither; the sheng-and-chamber-music piece Cloud Shao; and the female solo song Plum Blossom's Clear Song. In October 2017 he successfully held his solo dizi concert "Chang'an Dizi Melodies, Dreaming of Jiangnan" and released an album of the same name. In 2019 he toured seven provinces and cities across the country with a special concert of his original bamboo-dizi works, Sound-Painting of the Qilian Mountains, to great success.
