About this item
Compiled by: Zhou Bo
Born August 8, 1945, in Yantai, Shandong Province. From an early age he studied dizi under Wei Dahua of a national-music society. In 1960 he was admitted to the affiliated middle school of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, studying under Mr. Han Yucai. In 1964 he became a student of Mr. Yang Lizhong, and in the late 1960s he had repeated contact with the dizi masters Lu Chunling and Zhao Songting, gaining a great deal from them. In 1980 he transferred from a local song-and-dance troupe to teach at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music. He recorded more than twenty cassette tapes for Hong Kong's Arts Sound Record Company and Liaoning's Northland Audio-Visual Society. In 1995 and 1999 he twice traveled to Taiwan to perform and lecture.
