Description

The erhu's natural spiccato (sautillé bowing) is a highly difficult, virtuosic technique suited to brighter, livelier musical passages, giving the music greater color and technical brilliance. Its origins draw to some extent on the spiccato technique of the violin.

The études in "Thirty-Three Natural Spiccato Exercises for Erhu (with disc, numbered-notation and staff-notation edition)" cover a number of aspects; players can master them progressively step by step, or practice selectively according to their own situation. The book contains several must-practice lessons that the player is encouraged to master thoroughly.
