Four Guitars
Classical Guitar × Improvised Sound
Tuesday, October 20, 2026 | 19:30–21:00
Four guitars, two distinctly different sonic worlds.
For this edition of Lin’s Culture Sound Focus, four guitarists from Germany, Peru, and Israel come together for a musical dialogue spanning classical interpretation and improvised sound.
At one end, Josep López × Guy Woodcock take classical guitar duets as their starting point, exploring works from the Baroque, Classical, Latin American, and contemporary repertoires. Through interpretation, arrangement, and the subtle interplay of chamber music, they create a nuanced and richly layered musical conversation.
At the other end, Michael Göring × Marc-Stefan Andres work with electric guitars, effects, looping, and improvisation. Melody, noise, electronic textures, and spontaneous responses intertwine, allowing sonic structures to emerge and transform in real time.
The two duos approach the guitar from different perspectives: one begins with existing compositions, while the other builds from the moment of creation itself. As the sense of order in classical guitar meets the openness of improvisation, four guitars give rise to two distinct yet complementary sonic worlds.
