In July 2021, the "Newly Compiled Xiao Grading Curriculum of the China Nationalities Orchestra Society" passed the textbook review of the competent authorities and is now officially used for the "xiao" professional social art proficiency grading examinations conducted by the China Nationalities Orchestra Society nationwide.

The China Nationalities Orchestra Society (CNOS) is a national first-class society with legal-person status, approved by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs. It is an academic body composed of musicians nationwide who are dedicated to the cause of Chinese folk orchestral art. Its members are spread across professional fields such as folk music performance, teaching, and research throughout the country.

Beginning in the summer of 1997, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the China Nationalities Orchestra Society obtained the qualification to conduct social art proficiency grading activities nationwide.
