His works center mainly on Chinese national music and New Age music. His zhongruan concerto "Yunnan Reminiscence" is a representative work of the zhongruan repertoire.

"Ruan Technique Study Score" is a systematic and comprehensive zhongruan teaching method that the author Liu Xing compiled over more than a decade.
